TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS Transport is the backbone of thriving economies. After the Contanerisation of Sea Cargo in 1990s, the next major move in the sector is the decentralised storage and this has changed the pattern of movement of goods. On the passenger movement side, the customer demand is shifting to integrated ticketing and modes of transport. In the coming years, our economy will be driven by sectors such as manufacturing and retail. For maximize contribution of these sectors, the logistics industry in the country will play a vital role. The industry needs to focus on various fronts such as: expanding distribution channels and increasing consumer reach, deploying "smart infrastructure" to reduce operational costs and improve delivery times, adopting the latest technology and increasing investments in storage infrastructure. Therefore new transport infrastructure should have the right and integrated modal-mix. Logistics - such as roadside amenities for passengers and drivers of cargo transport is an inceasing demand. Early entrants, of course with right strategy and approach, have immense opportunities in this sector.

RENEWABLE ENERGY

The Government of India is committed to increase the use of clean energy sources and is already undertaking various large-scale sustainable power projects to promote the use of green energy. In addition, renewable energy has the potential to create huge employment opportunities, including in rural areas. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has set an abitious target to set up renewable energy capacity to the tune of 175GW by 2022, of which 100GW is planned for solar and another 75GW for wind, hydro, biomass and other clean technologies. The country plans to establish 5,000 compressed Biogas plants by 2023. The Indian renewable energy sector is expected to see investments of over US$80bn over the next 5 years. It is expected that by 2040, we will generate around 49% of the total electricity from renewable sources. The use of renewable technology in place of coal will account for savings of over US$8bn annually. We actively evaluate investment opportunities in this space and look to deploy clean energy technologies in States across the Country.

Urban Lab

URBAN LAB INDIA was launched on 5th July 2019 in Navi Mumbai, with the aim to bring together, the various staekholders to discuss, innovate and collaborate to research and develop solutions to address the biggest problems affecting urbanising India.

G.S. Gill (I.A.S, retd. Former Addn. Chief Secretary, Govt. of Maharashtra)- Director

After working at senior implementation and policy level positions in the Government for 35 years, Mr. G.S. Gill moved on to the Private Sector and the Non-profit Sector. In the State Government over 80% of his jobs related to the urban development & administration, infrastructure planning and execution, policy and governance level involvement in the fields of medical education, ports and transport, excise and transport sector taxation and regulation, district level administration and program implementation. At the Government of India level, he advised on the Administrative Reforms and Mines and Minerals Policy. In the Private Sector he worked with the leading Industrial Houses in India in the fields of city development, housing, education and infrastructure (Solid Waste Management and Sewerage Treatment). In the Non-profit Sector he has worked as Distinguished Fellow, Distinguished Adviser and direct involvement in the filed of providing quality education in rural areas. While in Government had the opportunity to undertake two long term and many short term courses, which helped to put practical experience in a theoretical framework and viceversa. After obtaining his Masters from Punjab University he pursued further education in the USA and UK - where he studied various nuances of the Public Policy.

Ravneet Gill (MRICS) - Director

Ravneet Gill is a senior management professional with over 18 years of experience in the Indian real estate and banking sector. He has a proven track record in successfully managing the P&L of large scale real estate projects spread across India. He has developed expertise in several functions such as growth strategy, sales & marketing, business planning & development, land acquisition, construction, government liaison, CRM and people management. Previously, he has worked in CEO/CXO roles at large real estate organizations and start-ups where he was responsible for the P&L of large-scale projects across multiple regions including one of the largest mixed-use townships in India. During his early career, he worked at Citigroup in the product and investment team. Ravneet obtained his MMS degree from K.J. Somaiya Institute of Management and B. Com degree from H.R. College of Commerce and Economics. He is a member of RICS and has been associated with GLG where he advises several companies on their investments and business strategy in India. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of CREDAI.

Kiran Shinde - Senior Associate

After doing his post graduation in Regional Planning from the IIT Kharagpur, he successfully pursued career as professional planner for over 35 years working at senior positions in urban planning and valuation. As a Planner he worked on regional plans, development plans and even smaller town planning schemes at the project level. His contribution as conceptual thinker, ground zero planner and actual implementer has immensely benefited his employers throughout. One of his latest roles has been identification of impact areas of large infrastructural projects such as Airport, Metro System etc. His expertise in City and Regional Planning and Environmental Law is major asset for the Company in these Sectors.

Varun Gill - Senior Associate

After his MBA in Finance from one of the top Indian Business Schools, joined Citigroup India as Financial Analyst in their Investment Banking division. He has expertise in Asset Valuation, Market and Industry Research as well as Financial Analysis & Forecasting for investment decisions. His skills extend to strategic evaluation of new-age opportunities in the Indian markets. Presently self engaged in Investment Advising and providing all-round support to the Projects on financial aspects.

Satyendu Sinha - External Expert

After Master of Technology (Transportation Engineering) from the prestigious National Institute of Technology, Warangal he has accumulated over 35 years experience in the sectors of Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning and Engineering.
